MEDVIC laboratory in the school of Mechanical Systems Engineering, Kookmin University, researches machine vibration control, focusing on rotordynamic systems which consist of rotors and their supporting bearing elements.
Low frictional gas and/or fluid film lubrications provide the bearings with load carrying and dynamic stiffness/damping capacities, thus enabling the stable operation of high speed rotors used in
- High speed motors/generators
- Gas and steam turbine engines
- Gas and liquid compressors, blowers, and pump
- Reciprocating internal combustion engines
- Many others, even human articular cartilages!
Accurately designed rotordynamic systems supported on such bearings ensure predictable rotor performances with energy savings and environmental benefits.
